Remember with 5 PADI Specialities you can become a Master Scuba Diver a level very few individuals ever attain.
Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty (PPB)
Why take this course?
The Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Course teaches you ultimate
buoyancy control to allow you to float effortlessly over the reefs and
wrecks.
With fine tuned buoyancy you use far less air, use much less energy and
enjoy your dives in a more relaxed state. Allows you to get closed to
the fragile reef without causing any damage to the reef or your equipment.
This is also superb for getting better and steady shots in underwater
Photography and Underwater Videography.
Who can take this course?
You must be a PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification
(or qualifying certification from another organization) and 10 years old.
How long does it take?
Completed in one day over two dives.
What's involved ?
You will master correct weighting and streamlining yourself.
Good breathing control and equipment adjustment.
You will be able to fine tune your buoyancy and master the hover.
Your certification will count towards the PADI Master Scuba Diver Rating.
PADI Enriched Air Diver - Entry Level
Nitrox Qualification
Maximize your time with the upgraded PADI Enriched Air Diver course. Enriched
Air Diver saves you time by allowing you to:
• Stay underwater longer
• Get back into the water sooner
• Get your certification while simultaneously completing dives for other
PADI courses
Plus, by diving with Enriched Air you may feel less tired on your vacation.
What do I need to start?
All you need is your open water diver certification. (You must be 15 years
of age or older).
What will I do?
You will learn preparation and diving procedures involved with enriched
air diving.
How soon can I be diving on enriched air?
Just a mini workshop and a couple dives and you’ll be on your way.

PADI Dry Suit Diver
If you want to see the spectacular and prolific aquatic life often found
in colder water climates you'll need to stay warm and that means a dry
suit. But, you want to be trained in proper techniques and this is where
PADI Dry Suit Diver Specialty course comes in.
What do I need to start?
PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying
certification from another organization)
Minimum age: 10 years old
What will I do?
During your PADI Dry Suit Diver Specialty course, you'll not only cover the background knowledge related to dry suit diving, you'll get into confined water to put that theory into practice. Then, once you've mastered confined water, it's time for two open water dives and applying that knowledge, including dive planning, organization, techniques, problems and buoyancy control.
How long will it take?

What will I need?
Dry Suit Pack, which includes manual, video and log insert
Digital Underwater Phtographer
You'll learn the basics of underwater photography such as composition,
film type and camera handling, with special emphasis on practical techniques.
You'll learn underwater photography dive planning, organization, procedures,
techniques and potential problems. You'll also learn how to care for and
maintain your camera equipment.

PADI Wreck Diver
The lure of exploring sunken vessels, airplanes and automobiles is something
most divers can't resist. The PADI Wreck Diver Specialty course introduces
you to wreck diving and helps you develop the skills and knowledge necessary
for safe and fun wreck diving.
Information contained in your wreck diver program includes:
The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards
of wreck diving
The preparation and use of lights, air supplies, special equipment, penetration
lines and reels
Limited-visibility diving techniques and emergency procedures.

Drift Diving
Drift Diving is effortless and relaxing because you simply glide with
the current and feel the rush of flying underwater. But, with this type
of diving come special procedures that you need to know so you can maximize
your fun underwater.
During your PADI Drift Diver certification course, you'll learn about
drift dive planning, organization, techniques and potential hazards, as
well as special equipment and procedures like buoyancy. But it's not all
theory because you'll go on two open water dives where you can put your
new knowledge into action.

Submatix Semi Close Rebreather Diver
Have you ever wanted to go diving, but without most of those bubbles?
Here's your chance to try it with the PADI Semiclosed Rebreather Submatix
course. This Specialty course introduces you to the Submatix semiclosed
rebreathers.
This Specialty course introduces the planning, organization, procedures,
potential problems and hazards of semiclosed rebreather diving. It is
specific to the features, accessories, maintenance and proper use of the
Submatix semiclosed rebreathers.

Minimum Open Water Training: three dives over one day
Recompression Chamber Awareness
The purpose of the Orientation to Recompression Chambers Distinctive Specialty
is to provide a safe and well supervised introduction into the work of
a hyperbaric facility. It is designed to familiarise divers to the facilities
available, the procedures used, problems and hazards associated with a
recompression chamber and possible treatments available.
Course participants are expected to take part in a recompression chamber dive to a maximum depth of 40 metres. Pre-requisites:
PADI Advanced Open Water (or equivalent qualification)
Minimum 15 years of age
Participants must hold a current diving medical
Deep Diver
You'll learn deep dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques
and hazards. You'll also put this knowledge to the test as you go on four
open water dives that range from 18 - 40 metres / 60 - 130 feet
Recommended Course Hours: 24
Minimum Open Water Training: four dives over two days
Navigation
During your PADI Underwater Navigator Specialty course, you'll learn underwater
navigation dive procedures, techniques, planning, organization and potential
problems. You'll also be introduced to natural navigation, underwater
patterns, distance estimation and further your compass navigation skills.
You'll put these into practice during your three open water dives.

Search and Recovery
Have you ever dropped something in the water? Are you looking for lost
treasure? The PADI Search and Recovery Diver Specialty course will teach
you effective ways to find objects underwater and bring them to the surface.

Minimum Open Water Training: four dives over two days
Night
You'll learn night dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques
and potential problems. You'll also learn how to control your buoyancy,
navigate and communicate at night. Since many of the plants and animals
you'll see are different, you'll also get an introduction to nocturnal
aquatic life.

Diver Propulsion Vehicle
During the program, you'll learn the techniques you need to know for safe
diver propulsion vehicle operation. This includes:-
Diver propulsion vehicle dive planning organization, procedures, techniques,
problems and hazards
Equipment and procedure considerations
How to avoid harming fragile aquatic life

Minimum Open Water Training: two dives over one day
Multilevel
You'll learn what multilevel diving is and why you want to plan for multilevel
dives. You'll also get to see the various types of multilevel dive calculators
(including the Recreational Dive Planner, Wheel version and dive computers),
as well as learn about multilevel dive planning, organization, procedures,
techniques, and potential problems.

BSAC Speciality Diving Courses with Abyss Scuba
Equipment
Care
To acquaint the diver with the maintenance requirements of modern diving
equipment, fault finding and rectification, what maintenance the owner
may safely undertake and what should be left to a trained repair technician.
This is a one day course requiring an Ocean Diver Qualification as a prequisite
to enrolment
Dive Planning and Marshalling
To teach divers the importance of Dive Planning and Marshalling, and the
correct procedures for doing so; and the need for a suitably qualified
and experienced person to perform the function. Also, to give divers practical
experience of dive marshalling. Duration Two days. Prequestite qualification
Experienced Sport Diver
Search and Recovery
To instruct Sports Divers in the correct techniques and procedures involved
in Search and Rescue projects, and to provide practical experience of
underwater search methods and the use of buoyancy for lifting.
This is a two day course requiring an entry qualification of BSAC Sports Diver or eqivalent rating
Basic Nitrox up to 40%
Understand the subject of Enriched Air Nitrox diving. This comprehensive course covers the safety aspects of using Nitrox, mixing and analysis and the management and organisation of dives using Nitrox.
Advanced Nitrox
Teaches the use of a range of Nitrox mixes both as a bottom gas and as
a decompression gas, plus the full use of the BSAC Nitrox Tables for 21%(Air),
27%, 32% and 36% Nitrox mixes.
Extended Range Diving
This three day course promotes more efficient, successful and safe deep
diving techniques and encourages a responsible and flexible approach to
extended range diving. Identifies the areas of potential problem, discusses
the possibilities of management and resolution in practice.
BSAC SDC'S SEAMANSHIP COURSES
CDA Boat Handling Course Two Day Course
AIM
The course is designed to give students, with little or no boat handling
knowledge or experience, instruction in small boat handling, including
techniques relevant to diving, and related safety knowledge.
CDA Diver Cox’n Assessment
AIM
The aim of the Diver Cox’n assessment is to assess a candidate’s practical
boat handling skills, and the underpinning knowledge related to the general
handling of small boats and to diving specific boat handling activities.
ENTRY GRADE
The CDA Diver Cox’n Assessment is open to any BSAC member over the age
of 16. Candidates should either
• Have completed the BSAC Boat Handling Course, or equivalent and have
accumulated at least 5 hours boat handling experience since completing
the course
• Have at least 20 hours substantiated/logged boat handling experience
Chart work and positioning
This course provides an introduction to the art of marine chartwork and
tidal predictions. Ideal for those looking for wrecks or new dive sites.
Automated External Defibrillation (AED) course
To train divers and others involved in BSAC diving activities with little
or no knowledge and experience of Automated External Defibrillators (AED),
in their use during a diving emergency situation according to Resuscitation
Council (UK) guidelines, with particular attention to precautions required
in the diving environment.
First Aid For Divers
AIM
To teach the basics of First Aid likely to be needed in the sports diving
environment making use of the resources likely to be available at the
time. This will include the improvisation of dressings, splints, etc.,
using materials and equipment commonly available on site or in the boat.
This is a one day course with no entry level qualification required other
than being a BSAC Member.
Oxygen Administration
AIM
To teach the administration of oxygen as a means of increasing the effectiveness
of First Aid treatment of diving accidents.
It is implicit in this definition that the treatment takes place on the
surface, either in a boat or on dry land. There is no question of administering
oxygen to a submerged diver.
DURATION
One day.
ENTRY GRADE
BSAC Ocean (Club) Diver. This course may also be open to others, such
as charter boat skippers.
Advanced Lifesaver
BSAC ADVANCED LIFESAVER AWARD - Sports Diver + Lifesaver - Exam Fee £15
Members who hold the BSAC Lifesaver Award (and ideally the Practical Rescue
Management and First Aid for Divers certificates) may apply to take the
Advanced Lifesaver Award. This one day examination includes a theory test
and a practical evaluation of open water rescue skills.

for our technical training from Inland Sites up to and including boat
dives to complete the training.

required for you to successfully complete the course and earn the new
diver status that you have been studying for.

training with PADI, on the PADI Divemaster Course. Unlike many schools
we do not treat Divemasters as unpaid slaves or instructors servants.
We value our Divemasters and offer a structered programme in line with
PADI Standards that will develop your skills as a diver, as a role model
to students, and we will assist you in gaining Instructor level dive theory
knowledge.
We offer a 7 to 8 week programme that will develop each candidate to the required standard working alongside one of our instructors who will serve as your coach and mentor. You will ample opportunity to work with our instructors training students in both confined and opeen water. Your instructor will assist you in developing your skills to demonstartion standards.
This course will leave you an excellent position to move onto your assistant instructor and open water scuba instructors courses with PADI.
